Nature's Home

Upon this summer of unspoken thought,
I recalled balmy days and a cheerful song,
Smiled at the silly things that I had once sought,
The conclusions that I had hastily drawn:
I read heartily poems of Keats and Thoreau,
Listened to the songs of Dylan and Waters,
Enjoyed a fine sip of a beautiful aged Merlot,
Thought about wars and political squatters:
I sat by the gentle river penning a new poem
Recalling the things, I had seen and known
The sounds of frogs croaking in a stream,
Of golden fairies, and a green clad gnome,
I found things peaceful as if in a dream
